Lay Organization
Lay Organization – Brother George Washington, Local Lay President
The purpose and objectives of the Lay Organization are outlined in its Constitution.
The purpose of the lay organization shall be to organize and train the laity of the African Methodist Episcopal Church so that each lay person may utilize to the maximum the abilities and skills granted by God in assisting with the improvement and extension of God’s kingdom and creating happiness, peace, and humility among its members.
The main objectives are stated in brief as follows:
- To create a love and appreciation of the History and Principles of African Methodism.
- Keep alive the memory of our illustrious founder, Richard Allen.
- Respect Constituted Authority.
- Stimulate and Educate the Laity in the Total Program of the Church.
- Study the Discipline and learn the laws of the Church.
- Encourage Financial Support of the Church’s Program.
- Teach and Practice Stewardship and work with the Youth to teach them Methodism.
These objectives can best be met when one works to understand the program of the Church and relate the Church to the World around us. Become involved in Social Action such that the Church is then our Community – our Job – Our School, and everywhere that many assemble, he carries the Church with him.
Health Ministry
Health Ministry – Sister Charmaine Robinson, President
The Health Ministry promotes a continuum of health (spiritual, emotional, and physical) and wholeness within the church and community. The ministry provides education on healthcare awareness and prevention with a goal of empowering our church family and community to make positive choices and live a healthy life.
Special Activities Committee

The Special Activities Committee is responsible for planning & executing activities to provide opportunities for fellowship & fun.
Guests & Member Relations Ministry
Guests & Member Relations Ministry – Sister Patricia Miller, President
The mission of the Guests and Member Relations Ministry, Is to provide a welcoming, loving sense of belonging, comfortable environment for our guests, visitors, members, and family, in order to enhance their worship experience and encourage a lovely fellowship.
Our Biblical Motivation:
Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it. (Hebrews 13:2 NLT)
Sons of Allen Purpose and Intent
Sons of Allen Purpose and Intent – Brother Raymond Robinson, Sr., President
The purpose of the Sons of Allen Ministry is to Lead men to the acceptance of Christ Jesus
as Savior and Lord. To provide both men /clergy / and Lay, an opportunity to develop and to extend Model Ministries in the Spirit and life work of Richard Allen. To empower men with the Spirit of Gifts to Minister to the peculiar needs of men and young men through the Sons of Allen.
Usher Board
Usher Board – Brother Raymond Robinson, Sr., President
- The Church Usher’s responsibility is to have a heart for people.
- Willing to lead with the love of Christ in your heart.
- Commitment to the vision of the Church.
- Be Supportive to the Leadership of the Church.
- Also greet the members with a smile.
- Be willing to collecting and transporting the offering in the Church.
- Assist with traffic flow during Worship service.
- Address and Resolve distraction during service.
- Attend and participate in Usher meetings.
- Be a model and excellent door keeper for the Lord.
Commission on Christian Social Action
Commission on Christian Social Action – Brother Raymond Robinson, Sr., Chairperson; Brother Robert Brown, Co-Chairperson
This commission shall coordinate activities in the areas of social, racial, and economic relations; temperance, world peace, community cooperation. The local Pastor appoints a member to chair the commission and determine its activities.
The commission is currently involved in VOTER REGISTRATION for the midterm in November 2022. The voter registration committee is coordinating this drive.
The Young People and Children Division (YPD) and Children’s Ministry
The Young People and Children Division (YPD) and Children’s Ministry – Sister Janice McCloud and Sister Keya Odom, Presidents
The Young People and Children Division’s purpose is to provide spiritual and meaningful youth training programs in all areas of church life contributing to the total mission of our church. We will provide training for our children and youth to increase knowledge of our church heritage as well as the teaching of the Bible.
Our YPD motto- Grow, glow and grow for Christ!
